Archaeological Field Schools |
Students can learn a variety of archaeological techniques in archaeological field schools held around the world usually during the summer months. Students need not be concentrating in archaeology to participate. Many programs can be found throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean Region.

Students can find fieldwork opportunities around the world when searching this bulletin. Not all programs are of equal quality and rigor, so students should exercise caution when selecting a program.
The Institute for Field Research (IFR)
The IFR offers archaeological fieldschools around the world, including the Middle East and Mediterranean. Programs are reviewed by faculty members for quality and rigor to insure a positive student experience. Students may earn credit that is transferable to UC Berkeley.
Center for Field Sciences (CFS)
The CFS also offers archaeological fieldschools around the world, including in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Students may earn credit that is transferable to UC Berkeley.

A museum internship is a great way for students to gain training in museum practices and explore career opportunities. Below is a partial list of internship opportunities at museums and institutions with significant collections focused on the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Students are encouraged to visit other museum websites to find additional opportunities.
