Bio/CV: 

Gil Breger is a scholar of premodern astronomy and the history of science, particularly Babylonian astronomy. He earned his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley and has focused primarily on the cultures and languages of Mesopotamia. His research interests include ancient astronomy, the production of knowledge in the ancient world, and the philosophy of science. He has taught courses on premodern astronomy and its societal context, Mesopotamian literature, as well as his native Hebrew language. He is also a trained archaeologist and has participated in several excavation projects. He is currently interested in the transformation of scientific knowledge during its transmission between cultures, particularly when these cultures employ different cognitive approaches.
